Torah Bright beats Kelly Clark at 2013 Dew Tour women’s halfpipe. We haven’t seen a ton of Torah Bright lately, but the 2010 Olympic gold medalist came out swinging at the Dew Tour women’s pipe finals today at Breckenridge , Colorado. Dew Tour placements carry extra weight this season as the tour is the first qualifying stop for riders hoping to make the US Olympic Snowboard team.

It’s been nearly four years since Shaun White was beat at a halfpipe event. That defeat was served by Danny Davis at the 2010 Mammoth Grand Prix during the Olympic qualifiers for the Vancouver Games. Today at the Dew Tour in Breckenridge , Colorado Greg Bretz added his name to the short list of riders who have bested Shaun in pipe.

Jaime Anderson wins first Olympic qualifier: Dew Tour Women’s Slopestyle. Breckenridge, Colorado was ground zero today as the battle to make the US Olympic Snowboard Team kicked off with the USSA-sanctioned 2013 Dew Tour womens slopestyle finals. Among the international field were US riders Jordie Karlinksi, Jessica Jenson, and Jamie Anderson who dropped in hoping to get one step closer to a qualifying for spot at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.

Dirksen Derby 2013 Practice And Preview

Practice for the 7th Annual Dirksen Derby got motoring today at Mt. Bachelor , Oregon. In classic Derby form there are two curvy courses tucked in the woods with hand-built berms and rollers by Josh Dirksen and volunteers. It’s no high speed GS race, but it’s fun, all about finesse. A good gathering, too.

US Snowboard Team Olympic qualifiers kick off at Dew Tour this weekend

The 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia are less than two months away, and for those US riders looking for a place on the Olympic team it all comes down to the next six weeks. The battle for the few coveted halfpipe and slopestyle start spots will unfold over five qualifying stops including the newly added Dew Tour in Breckenridge , Colorado, plus four Grand Prix s at Copper , Colorado, Northstar , California, and a double stop at Mammoth , California.
