Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) will open almost 3,000 vertical feet of beginner, intermediate and advanced terrain on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th.   “The combination of great early season snowfall on the upper mountain and snowmaking on the lower slopes have made it possible to open so much of the mountain,” stated Tim Mason, JHMR Vice President of Operations.  For the holiday weekend the resort will operate Après Vous, Casper, Marmot and Teewinot chairlifts, and the Bronco Terrain Park will also open with multiple features.  “More snow is in the forecast for the weekend, and we’ll continue to monitor conditions for potentially more terrain openings,” noted Mason.  JHMR will introduce the new RFID electronic ticket system on opening day, all non-pass holders will need to purchase the new J Card either online or at the Ticket Office.  Once purchased, the J Card can be reused all season long and can be reloaded on Jacksonhole.com.

As a result of Jackson Hole being named Ski Magazine’s #1 North American Overall Resort, opening weekend will feature a community celebration, with free skiing on Friday, November 29^th.  “We wanted to say thank you to everyone in the community and all our guests who helped us achieve the #1 Ski Magazine ranking and the #1 Forbes ranking, and free skiing seemed the perfect gift,” stated Jerry Blann, JHMR President. “In the spirit of giving back to our community, donations to Teton Adaptive Sports and Friends of Pathways will be encouraged,” Blann added. JHMR will match the total amount donated up to $5000.

Friday’s festivities and all the weekend activities, are presented by JHMR’s newest partner and official resort vehicle, Jeep, and will include free ski clinics, $1 ski tunes, live music all day, food and drink specials at Nick Wilson’s Café beginning at 1pm and a raffle drawing at 3pm.  The party continues Friday evening with the Jackson Town Square lighting and onto Saturday, November 30^th with the 2^nd Annual Snow Peep Show at the Four Seasons Cottonwood Ballroom.
