686 Technical Apparel is proud to introduce the very limited edition 686 x Mike Shinoda Parka produced in an edition of only 175. A portion of the proceeds from the jacket will benefit Music For Relief, a non-profit organization comprised of musicians and fans working together to support natural disaster relief, reduce global warming and create positive change.

Mike Shinoda, best known as the founder, chief songwriter and producer of the Grammy-Award winning band, Linkin Park, is also a visual artist with a BFA and Honorary Doctrate from the Art Center College of Design. Shinoda designed the parka from the ground up, working with 686 founder and creative director, Mike West. He created his own camouflage pattern for the jacket, and hand designed all the trims and Thermagraph quilting inside.

“Mike West and I had a mutual interest in making something that could be worn on the mountain, but also worn in the city – something that has all the technical features of a snowboard jacket, but also looks and fits like a jacket you can wear in the street,” says Shinoda. “Honestly, I wanted to make an awesome snowboard jacket to wear this winter. It came out great.”

The limited edition parka is produced in 686 infiDRY® 15 waterproof and breathable fabric, features waterproof zippers and a removable powder skirt that helps transition the jacket from the mountains to the streets in an instant.

“I’m a fan of the creative process. Working with Mike (Shinoda) has been a blessing, as he not only understands the process from concept to completion, but brings a unique take on it,” says 686 creative director Mike West. “We share similar interests in design and culture, and I’m stoked that we were able to bring a cool story and mash it up in the worlds of art, music, fashion and snowboarding.”

The 686 x Mike Shinoda Limited Parka will be available exclusively atwww. zumiez.com at midnight November 15, 2013.
